    National Investment and Manufacturing Zones (NIMZs) in Andhra Pradesh

    • The Government of India (GoI) has announced a National Manufacturing Policy, 2011, with the objective of enhancing the share of manufacturing in GDP to 25% within a decade and creating 100 million jobs. As per the Policy, “NIMZs will be developed as integrated industrial townships with state-of-the art infrastructure and land use on the basis of zoning; clean and energy efficient technology; necessary social infrastructure; skill development facilities, etc.”
    • In pursuit of taking forward the GoI initiative, Government of Andhra Pradesh (GoAP) proposed to develop NIMZs at Chittoor and Prakasam Districts for which In-principle approval was already accorded by GoI. APIIC engaged IIDC Limited (An IL&FS Group Company) for preparation of TEFS Report Cum Development Plan and Final application and the same were submitted to Govt. for final approval. The Salient features of these NIMZs are as below.

    Location/Mandals Falls within Valmikipuram (Vayalpad), Kalikiri and Gurramkonda mandals, Chittoor Dt. (Close to Chennai – Bangalore Industrial Corridor – CBIC) Falls within Pamaru and Pedacherla Palli mandals, Prakasam Dt. (Falls in Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor – VCIC)
